The New 42nd Street builds on the foundation of seven historic theaters to make extraordinary performing arts and cultural engagement part of everyone’s life.
The new ten‐story building consists of 14 rehearsal studios on five floors with dressing rooms, showers and bathrooms; three floors of office space; and a 199‐seat “Black Box” theater.
Our HVAC design included centralized condenser water and heating system. Each studio has packaged water‐cooled air conditioning units with an economizer cycle for “free‐cooling” and variable air control.
Sound attenuation measures including a sound trap and low velocity ductwork in each studio were used to meet stringent acoustical criteria.
Electrical design included support for the award‐winning DMX‐controlled lighting, which washes the facade of the building with color at night.
