MoMA PS1 is one of the largest art institutions in the United States dedicated solely to contemporary art.
We created the MEP design for the complete renovation of the former Swingline staple factory in Long Island City.
MoMA’s new, temporary location contains approximately 140,000 SF on two levels, plus a 20,000 SF basement. Climate control for preservation of archived material was a crucial aspect of our design.
The facility houses permanent state-of-the-art archives for the Museum, a portion of its library collections, the renowned film stills collection, fine arts collection storage space and temporary exhibition galleries. Also included in our design were study centers, a reading room for scholars and the public; and laboratories where photography and conservation work could take place.
