Coney Island Hospital Emergency Department

The Coney Island Hospital Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round, staffed with a professional and highly trained team of physicians, physician assistants, and nurses.

Our work on this project consisted of a 7,500 SF addition and the renovation of approximately 2,500 SF for emergency care. As part of this project, we designed the upgrade of the existing MEP systems serving the emergency department including all the VAV boxes, both chillers, and two return fans.

Working with hospital facility staff, our firm designed repairs to the new work including replacing all electrical work to 2′ above finished floor. A new exit was added providing the new ED area with a second means of egress that avoided the still-damaged areas of the first floor. The hospital was able to open the new ED area as an urgent care clinic while repairs continued on the rest of the facility.
